🌱 Cognitive Artifacts

Source

Another podcast guest David Krakauer who runs a Santa Fe Institute he has this concept of two different types of cognitive artifacts, cooperative ones and competitive ones. The cooperative ones actually make us better even in their absence. His example is with you learn to use an abacus you actually become better at calculating even without the abacus you can internalize the abacus you can do calculations you wouldn’t otherwise be able to do.
