Why I keep notes:

Notes keep records for searching in the future
Notes remove the burden of my limited memory
Notes help me remember
Notes help me think through ideas
Notes help me communicate knowledge to others

I have different levels of how public I wish notes to be and for now I use different tools to manage that. Having the different apps help me keep things separated mentally.

Private

Only for me, ideas in progress, private information, journals, etc

Family

Notes, ideas and information that needs to be shared with the family (wife and kids)

Need to share with co-workers. Meeting notes, documentation, retros, etc.
