🌱 Publishing process and batching

Source

Hearing them talking about lead times in publishing reminds me of the MIT course on IIOT and working to reduce feedback loops and time to delivery.

Publishing went from years to weeks/months to daily to hourly to instant if you chart Monks/Encyclopedias being copied to the internet as we use it today.

The old way was to batch and deliver in long lead times because getting the material and print made and shipped costs so much.

No information only costs the effort to post (and the electricity to transfer the data).

The costs shifted to servers and infrastructure rather than paper ink and shipping.
